Guidelines for different content types: Version numbering
Any file on a VIRTUAL repository should have a version number in its header. This number should be given according to semantic version numbering:
MAJOR increases by 1 if a not backwards-compatible new version is released.
MINOR increases by 1 if new features and functionalities are added in a backwards- compatible way (within the same MAJOR version).
PATCH increases by 1 if a bug is fixed without adding new functionalities.
Where do you start?
While version 0.0.0 only lives on your own computer, the first version that you share with your colleagues and co-developers on the platform is 0.1.0. The first release version intended for the actual user is 1.0.0.
